MBA Career Goals Essay question 1: Give a detailed description of your role, your responsibilities and your achievements in your current (latest) position and explain how your role and responsibilities have evolved through your career. (300 words)

I began my professional journey in 2014 with Company XYZ as a Business Technology Analyst. A major turning point in my career was when I was selected to lead the data analysis team for our client- the State of ABC, for National XYZ project. I leveraged my prior experience conducting health awareness campaigns with National Cadet Corps (a subunit of The Indian Navy) and in Avionics Data Management with Defense Research and Development Organization, India to gain this promotion. I was able to solve complex problems of a government undertaking and master the data conversion tool- ‘Pentaho’. During this time, I also became proficient in Postgres, an open source database. The expertise that I gained in latest database technologies drove me to explore database management extensively.

My experience and interest in Database Management landed me an opportunity with the best in the business- PQR LLC. I started as a Database Administrator, for high profile clients such as Bank of XXX. For such clients, PQR LLC requires one to reach ‘Professional Level Certification’. However, with a constant focus on learning, I went further and completed several certifications to reach ‘Expert Level’. This allowed me to qualify and join the PQR Applications Lab team, which concentrates on design and implementation of newest technology before its release for public use.

Presently, I lead a team of seven engineers on functional testing and cloud implementation of PQR LLC Management for our biggest client. In this role I have utilized my experiences and certifications to bring in major changes. Firstly I automated Application Testing thus reducing man hours by 40 percent. Second solution was to eradicate problems faced by auditors in manually maintaining licenses. I developed a process to automate service requests to maintain licenses of PQR Products. This enhanced security and workflow in Order Management.

My short term goal post MBA is to use my current technical experience towards solving complex business problems. Beginning my career as an individual contributor I have grown into a team leader through a systematic set of preparations. However, there’s a level of exposure that comes with more decisive roles, that of a Project Manager or Customer Manager.

Transitioning into the role of a Project manager will allow me to deal with bigger challenges and risks. Though I have worked directly with client officials on the US government project, I now wish to better grasp the full-fledged functioning of a firm in such projects. To take my career to the next level, at this stage, I believe I need to supplement theoretical understanding with a proven and verified curriculum.

My expectations from the XXX MBA program are two-folds- Hard Skills and Soft Skills. Courses on Data Analysis for Decision Making, Big Data & Artificial Intelligence @ Work and Consulting Methodologies will allow me to gain the hard skills required for my targeted role. Moreover, the specialization on Digital Innovation with focus on big data and AI gives me confidence that my future goals align best with what the XXX MBA program offers.

I also wish to polish my soft skills by learning from the likes of Dr. ABC and Dr. XYZ. The XXX MBA will help lay a foundation in personal development and give the required push to raise myself successfully to an international level. The class, with its diverse members, can equip me in my future endeavors of conducting business across the world with stakeholders from different cultures. The global outlook and the holistic approach from XXX will not only help me become a management professional, but also technically sound personnel ready to tackle anything that comes my way.
